Our volunteers play a vital role in creating a positive, safe and fun atmosphere for runners and spectators. If you have any questions or comments about our guidelines or need additional information, please email us at volunteer@louisvillesports.org.

Volunteer Code of Conduct

• Conduct yourself as a positive, supportive and informative member of our volunteer team. Remember how hard runners have trained—help celebrate their accomplishments.

• Follow all instructions from your volunteer captain. These directions are in place to ensure the safety of runners and spectators.

• Always use respectful language. Profanity, harassment or offensive remarks are not permitted.

• Do not use drugs, alcohol or tobacco products while volunteering.

• Treat all participants, fellow volunteers and spectators with dignity and kindness. Louisville is known for its hospitality, let’s live up to it!

Volunteer Guidelines

• Check in promptly at your designated volunteer check-in location upon arrival.

• Leave valuables at home. The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon & 5K staff is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

• Wear your official volunteer shirt for the duration of your shift.

• Be prepared to stand for most or all your shift. Dress comfortably and appropriately for your assignment.

• Plan to work the entirety of your scheduled shift.

• Do not bring children or pets to your volunteer location. They may distract from your responsibilities and create safety concerns.
